Holiday Self-Care to Win in 2020

December can be an extremely busy month!  General self-care is critical in order to feel your best, banish blemishes and allow your hair to flourish.  It’s clear that if you feel good, you will look your best. So, here are some quick tips for basic self-care to use throughout the holiday season, and into 2020.

    1. Drink your water.  It may sound cliche, but it is ever-important to stay hydrated so you can feel your best while enjoying holiday activities.  Many festive events involve rich foods that contain more salt and sugar than we are typically accustomed to consuming. Additionally, alcoholic beverages are also often part of our celebrations and this can lead to dehydration.  Remember that water consumption is the best, most natural way to detox, so get ahead of the game by drinking at least 64 ounces of water every day!  
    2. Nourish those relationships.  We often spend more time thinking about friends and family than we actually spend with those special people face to face. Technology is wonderful, but as humans, we thrive with real social interactions. So, take the time to get together with folks in our lives who mean the most. These real experiences may give us just the motivation that we need to move into the New Year with more focus and positive energy than ever.  Don’t just post about it - live it!
    3. Get your rest.  Yes, it’s super basic, but very important.  So many of us are driven to be so active that we miss out on our sleep.  Sleep is necessary for maintaining a healthy body, with normal hormone (cortisol) levels; relating back to blood pressure, blood sugar, and mental health. All of these factors may contribute to our skin and hair, so try and make rest a priority by scheduling your bed times and even working in the time for quick naps, if possible.
