Scalp & Hair Tips for Fall

It's Finally Fall!

We find that Autumn can be a tricky time for managing our hair and scalp. The air becomes cooler and dryer, and this often impacts our scalp with an increase in dandruff and itching.

Here are some ideas to keep those white flakes under control:

1) Be purposeful in establishing your scalp care routine. Make time on wash day to rejuvenate your scalp & prevent yeast from taking advantage of a dry environment. This is critical, especially with our beloved protective styles! If it's itchy, don't just scratch it, handle it with quality products at the source. The LivSo Shampoo & Conditioner gently cleanse and soothe a sensitive scalp leaving it infused with the proper level of hydration for beautiful hair.

2) Seal in scalp moisture right after washing & conditioning but BEFORE drying & styling. The LivSo Moisturizing Scalp Lotion is great for that. It is loaded with ceramides which help protect and reinforce our skin cells & also helps to keep flaking to a minimum with willow bark extract. The coconut oil and shea butter in the lotion's formula keep the product feeling smooth & silky without weighing down hair follicles.

3) Though tempting, avoid the pitfall of using pure oils and nut butters directly onto the scalp to combat dryness. They don't provide lasting protection & often FEED the yeast, which causes seborrheic dermatitis to become worse. The same concept applies for co-washes - they are fine for periodic use but may cause dandruff to flare up over time.

4) Start using a cool mist humidifier in the bedroom to help keep your skin, including the scalp, and hair moisturized overnight.

That's all for now! Remember to keep it moving & enjoy the fall colors. Stay in touch with me on Facebook & Instagram.
